CPEC Committee for Plots’ Issue Resolution in SEZs
Islamabad: According to news sources, Sher Ali Arbab, the chairman of the parliamentary committee overseeing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), has urged the government to create a quick mechanism to address the problems relating to the sales and cancellations of plots in the special Economic zones (SEZ).

He received a briefing on the security options available for the CPEC projects as he presided over the 37th meeting of the Parliamentary committee. The ministers informed the committee of the security shortcomings and the enterprises’ resultant hesitation to set up industrial facilities.
In response, the committee members stressed that facilities for ease of doing business (EDB) should be created to make SEZ an alluring prospect for both foreign and domestic businesses. In order to speed up the process, the committee also put up their proposal for resolving the problems on a war footing.

The committee was also made aware of the project’s upgraded Electric Traction (ET) elements, which would make it more sustainable. Several lawmakers from the opposition and treasury benches attended the aforementioned meeting.
