Delayed Funds Impacting Lahore schemes
Lahore: The Punjab government may not be able to complete various development schemes under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) by December of this year (the first half of the current fiscal year 2021-22) due to the fact that it has yet to release funds allocated for this purpose.

Despite the fact that the finance department has partially released funds for some new and ongoing programmes carried over from the previous fiscal year (FY) 2020-21, the release of the remaining funds has been delayed, and it is possible that these programmes will not be completed on time.
Similarly, the official stated that the government partially released funds for certain schemes that can be completed within a brief timeframe — between one and three months.
According to a senior LDA official, only a portion of the funds allocated to the authority under the ADP for various schemes were disbursed.

Previously, the government claimed to have released Rs 144 billion to various departments on the first day of the new fiscal year 2021-22 (1 July 2021) to ensure the timely completion of all ongoing schemes.
Similarly, the government allocated Rs 100 billion under the ADP for launching and completing new development projects across the province as part of the district development package. In addition, Rs30 billion had been allocated separately to Lahore for various megaprojects.
