District Admin Asked to Help Acquire Land for Leh Expressway
Rawalpindi: Water supply to six union councils from Chahan Dam may be affected due to the vacant position of land collector at Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) since the suspension of the previous incumbent. This is the primary reason for the delays in the Leh Expressway Project.

The total length of the Leh Nullah Expressway will be 16.5 kilometres. There are 1,604 houses in the right-of-way of the Leh Expressway, and 1,279 kanals must be acquired: 1,035.9 kanals of private land, 132.4 kanals owned by Military Engineering and Works, 54.7 kanals owned by Chaklala Cantonment Board, and 56 kanals owned by Rawalpindi Cantonment Board.
The plan calls for the construction of three structures, including an intake chamber in Chahan, a filtration plant in Chakri, and a pumping station in Ranyal. He stated that 80 kanals of land will be used for the filtration plant, while Ranyal and Chakara will each receive 35 kanals.

When contacted, RDA spokesman Hafiz Irfan confirmed that after Waseem Tabish’s suspension, there was no land collector in the RDA and that the government would soon appoint a new one or make an alternative in this regard to avoid any project delays.
