E-Passport System to Be Launched by June
According to the interior ministry, Pakistan will launch an electronic passport programme by June and has hired a German firm to help with the project.

After seeing the FIA’s zonal office, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed spoke with media and described the shift as crucial because it will assist in removing all of the barriers that passport applicants now face in the current system.
In response to a question he said, “I assure you that this (e-passport) service will be available by June (2021). There will be no more lawsuits or year-long waits for small work after that. This project has been contracted to a German firm, which will be a huge relief for everyone looking for quick service from the passport office.”

An electronic passport is a very safe travel document that has a microchip within that stores the holder’s biometric information.
