The Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA) has approved significant changes to the plot quota system for Islamabad’s F-14 and F-15 sectors, aiming to address previous allotment discrepancies and ensure a fair distribution of plots among eligible categories.
According to official details, the authority found that during plot allotments made in 2016 and 2017, the number of Category-I (one kanal) plots allocated to judges exceeded the quota approved under the original policy.
Following a detailed review, the FGEHA Executive Board approved the adjustment of 25 one-kanal plots in the F-14 and F-15 sectors. The revised allocation is intended to restore the approved quota system and create opportunities for other eligible groups, including officers from the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Administration and other government service categories.
The need for these adjustments emerged after the authority revised the layout plans for both sectors in 2021. The updated plans reduced the total number of available plots, resulting in differences between the approved quotas and the actual inventory. Officials noted that while some reserved categories remained underutilized, others had received more plots than originally allocated.
In a separate decision, the FGEHA has also approved the redistribution of 1,085 residential plots in the Sky Gardens Housing Scheme near Bhara Kahu.
The housing scheme, launched in 2019 as a joint venture between the FGEHA and a private developer, includes thousands of planned residential plots. However, several quota categories have attracted very few eligible applicants, while others continue to face a large backlog of pending applications.
To improve the allotment process, the available plots will now be redistributed among eligible quota categories using a proportional allocation formula. Any remaining plots will be allotted to serving federal government employees where applicable.
Officials also acknowledged that physical development at the Sky Gardens Housing Scheme remains below 50 percent due to project delays. Despite this, they believe the revised quota policy will improve transparency, make better use of available plots, and provide deserving applicants with a fair opportunity under their respective categories.
