Islamabad: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has rejected reports suggesting that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar shared information about Iran’s nuclear program during his recent meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Foreign Office spokesperson described the reports as “baseless and speculative,” clarifying that no intelligence or sensitive information was exchanged during the meeting held in Washington on May 29.

According to the spokesperson, discussions between the two officials focused on bilateral relations, regional developments, and ongoing efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on developments in the Middle East and the Gulf region, with both sides emphasizing the importance of diplomacy, dialogue, and de-escalation of tensions.

The Foreign Office strongly denied allegations that any information regarding Iran’s nuclear activities or strategic intentions was shared with US officials. The spokesperson said such claims were entirely unfounded and appeared intended to undermine ongoing diplomatic engagement.

The clarification follows remarks attributed to former CIA analyst Larry Johnson, who reportedly claimed that Ishaq Dar had conveyed a message concerning Iran’s strategic plans to Secretary Rubio. Similar claims were later referenced during a congressional hearing in the United States.

However, Secretary Rubio stated during the hearing that he was unaware of any such communication.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s foreign policy stance, the spokesperson said the country remains committed to peaceful dialogue, diplomacy, and constructive engagement in addressing regional and international challenges.
