The Balochistan government has started work on a low-cost housing scheme in Gwadar aimed at providing affordable homes for low-income fishermen, with the land demarcation process now officially underway.
According to officials, the demarcation began on July 8 under the supervision of the district administration following directives from the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA).
Earlier this year, the provincial government allocated more than 200 acres of land for the project, which is estimated to cost Rs. 2.44 billion. The housing scheme is located near the intersection of Jiwani Avenue and Awaran Avenue, close to the Gwadar Sports Complex.
The project will include 2,970 residential plots, each measuring 120 square yards, which will be allotted to eligible fishermen to improve access to affordable housing.
A joint team comprising officials from the GDA, district administration, and police is conducting site surveys and installing boundary markers to complete the demarcation. Authorities are also identifying encroachments and have directed illegal occupants of government land to vacate the area, warning that legal action will be taken against those who fail to comply.
The GDA said the housing scheme is part of Gwadar’s master plan and aims to improve living conditions for fishing communities while supporting the city’s planned urban development.
