Government Presents Rabbit Farming Program in Gilgit-Baltistan
Thursday, Jamshed Iqbal Cheema, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for National Food Security and Research, inaugurated the Angora rabbit breeding special project in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) in order to increase wool goods.
According to the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (Parc), one Angora rabbit can produce up to six high-quality shawls annually from its wool.
According to Parc Chairman Dr. Muhammad Azeem Khan, Angora rabbits are being brought from Nepal for the newly inaugurated project. Ten angora rabbits were initially delivered to the G-B station in Juglot.
The chairman also indicated that Parc was aiming to spread this project to other G-B regions in order to improve the general public’s standard of living.
The Mountain Agriculture Research Centre at PARC was constructed specifically for G-agricultural B’s and rural growth.
The purpose of PARC-angora MARC’s rabbit farming venture in Juglot is to introduce novel agricultural practises to G-B farmers and empower local women.

During the visit, the PM’s aide also briefed media and local farmers on government plans to improve agriculture in G-B through the use of modern techniques and examined promising areas for agriculture research in G-B.
In an effort to eliminate poverty in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), the PTI government formally launched Prime Minister Imran Khan’s “Backyard Poultry Program” in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) in October 2019. The prime minister’s initiative was to expand to other regions of the nation.
