Govt Allocates Funds for Bhara Kahu and Rawat Metro Bus

The Metro Bus from Bharakahu to Faizabad and from Rawat to Faizabad, among other development projects, have received funding from the government, which is good news for the people of Islamabad.

For the fiscal year 2023–2024, Rs 29 million has been set aside in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) to fund feasibility studies for the introduction of metro bus services at these two locations.

According to the PSDP document, the Islamabad Development Project, which includes several development initiatives with potential public benefits, has received the biggest allocation within the Interior Division, equal to Rs 2200 million.

Additionally, considerable sums of money have been set aside for new and ongoing development projects in the Federal Capital. These include Rs 400 million for building 10th Avenue, Rs 405 million for building a flyover and approaches at the railway line in Sihala, Rs 350 million for building the Korang Bridge and the PWD underpass, and Rs 66 million for designing and building the bridge across the Kuri River.

Amounts have also been allocated for the Korang River and Rawal Lake Water Treatment (Rs 255 million), Roads and Street Pavement in ICT (Rs 6.7 million), Sewerage/Sanitation and Water Supply Scheme in ICT (Rs 78 million), Construction of Road from Darbar Sain Mircho to Shamas Colony (Rs 10 million), and Water Supply Scheme at Ujri Kalan (Rs 49 million).

Under the Interior Division, 29 current and nine new development schemes have received a combined amount of Rs 9950 million. Out of these, Rs. 9051 million have been set up for ongoing programmes, and Rs. 899 million have been set aside for new programmes.

The Interior Division’s allocated monies are mostly focused on security and safety measures. The third-highest budgeted project (getting Rs 817 million) likewise relates to security and calls for the construction of five extra wings for the Frontier Corps Balochistan (South) to improve Western Border control.

Additionally, Rs 100 million has been allotted for the security of foreign nationals, while Rs 200 million has been designated for the Integrated Border Management System. Additionally, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been given Rs 480 million for operational upgrades and Rs 300 million to rebuild its cybercrime division.

A total of Rs 512 million has also been set up for the construction of four blocks of soldier apartments at Bajaur Scouts and two Wings Headquarters in South Waziristan.
