Gwadar: The 2019–2025 Gwadar Smart Port City Master Plan is progressing quickly. Thirteen key areas’ development strategies are included in the proposal. It is complete and will offer first-rate medical facilities to Gwadar’s citizens. The Gwadar Port has welcomed digitization by introducing a fiber optic cable network, enabling paperless customs procedures for speedier trans-shipment and containerized trade.
Nevertheless, a “Central Business District” initiative has received approval from the Balochistani administration. It will follow the Gwadar Master Plan and encompass 2,500 acres in the port city. Not only that, but a 280km road network has also been built, and the city has been granted tax-free zone status to promote economic activity.
A significant project known as the Gwadar Port Breakwater has been approved for the expansion of Port Gwadar in order to safeguard the marine environment, lessen coastal erosion, and generally enhance berthing safety. There are proposals for a “Ferry Service” included in the proposed tourism strategy. Connecting Gwadar with Iran will usher in a new era of travel destinations. Gwadar’s tourist plan also anticipates including festival and cultural tourism.
Processing is also underway for the PKR 3,325.6 million Gwadar Safe City Project (Phase I). The project will install optical fiber connections and multipurpose cameras to improve security.
The Gwadar Old City Master Plan, which will improve the local community’s economic status and progress through the development of historical sites, infrastructure repair, and skill-building programs, is also in the works.
