How to Change Your Voting City and Location?
In Pakistan, registering to vote is required before casting a ballot. The Election Commission of Pakistan oversees these elections, which are held in Pakistan every five years (ECP). These elections elect both MNAs (Members of the National Assembly) and MPAs (Members of Provincial Assemblies). Elections for local bodies are also held to choose the local government. The methods for voting registration, deletion, and correction are described in this article along with the forms that must be submitted to ECP.
When the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued preliminary findings on the delimitation of parliamentary seats, some voters discovered that their cities and localities had changed.
The ECP has given voters until June 19 to change where they will vote, but provincial and federal seat borders will be set by the end of August.
Send SMS on 8300
Text your C.N.I.C number to 8300 to receive information on your voter registration. This will show whether your voting location and area have been changed.
Find A Display Center
You must locate the closest ECP Display Center if you are registered in another city.
On the ECP website, Display Centers have been mentioned for each province and city. Here is a link to it:
These locations have been set up for voter registration, information correction, and name removal. 7,928 centers have been established overall, with 2,585 in Sindh, 2,545 in KP, 1,429 in Balochistan, and 2,545 in Punjab.
To enroll your name in the district, you can deliver your application and a copy of your CNIC to the nearest display center, the district election commissioner, the registration officer, or the assistant registration officer.
To register your vote, you must fill out the required Form 15 that is online at the ECP website.
Additionally, it is available without charge from the district election commissioner’s office, the registration officer, or the assistant registration officer. Remember to have your original CNIC with you when you visit the display center to turn in the completed form.
Vote Eligibility Criteria
Everyone who meets the following eligibility requirements is expected to cast a ballot;
- Pakistani nationality is required.
- He or she should be at least 18 years old.
- He or she has a CNIC that was issued by NADRA prior to the most recent voter registration period, and has raised concerns and made a corrective time.
- His/her CNIC must contain the address of the district in which they intend to cast a ballot.
- He has not been deemed mentally unable to cast a vote by any court.
Anyone who meets the requirements above may vote provided their name appears on the NADRA voter list.
How to Register Your Vote
If you are already registered to vote, all you need to do on election day is show up at a polling place in your district with your original CNIC.
However, you will need to take some necessary procedures to register to vote if you are 18 years of age or older and your vote is not yet registered.
Your vote is automatically registered by ECP at the permanent address listed on your CNIC. However, if your address changes, you must register to vote at your new location. The District Election Commissioner DEC, the Registration Officer, or the Assistant Registration Officer of the District must receive the completed form (known as Form 21) below, together with a copy of your CNIC. On the ECP website, these forms are accessible. Additionally, these are freely available at the District Election Commissioner’s DEC, Registration Officer, or Assistant Registration Officer offices.
How to Delete Your Vote in Pakistan?
If you need to switch your vote from one location to another, you must first get your previous vote removed. For this, you must fill out Form 22 and deliver it to the District Election Commissioner DEC, the Registration Officer, or the Assistant Registration Officer of the District, along with a copy of your CNIC. These forms are freely available from the offices of the District Election Commissioner DEC, Registration Officer, or Assistant Registration Officer, as well as via the ECP website.
Registered But Wrong Information
You have received confirmation that your vote has been registered, however some of the information on file with the ECP differs from what is listed on your national identification card. Form 17 is here to assist you.
Remember to have your original CNIC with you when you visit the display center to turn in the completed form. The ECP office will fill out some of the form’s components.
An ECP representative will set a date for the hearing of your case when you submit the form. An ECP representative will make the decision following the hearing.
How to Change Vote Registration Detail?
If you need to make a change without changing your electoral district, you must fill out Form 23 and send it to the District Election Commissioner (DEC), the Registration Officer, or the Assistant Registration Officer of the District, along with a copy of your CNIC. These forms are freely available from the offices of the District Election Commissioner DEC, Registration Officer, or Assistant Registration Officer, as well as via the ECP website.
Registration for Internet Voting for Overseas Pakistanis
Only overseas Pakistani voters with the following qualifications may cast a ballot: (a) a current NICOP; (b) a current Machine Readable Passport (MRP); and (c) a current email address. The voter must be 18 years old at the time of registration.
The overseas voter must use the internet to access the overseas voting system and register before casting their vote.
The applicant will receive a confirmation email for the newly formed account at the email address provided, and upon clicking the link within, the voter will be asked for the number of his or her MRP, along with the tracking identification, NICOP number, and date of issuance.
After the election is over, a verification procedure will begin. The system will ask random questions about the voter’s identity information, and if the voter responds correctly, the system will display the message “Successfully validated.” The applicant will also receive a confirmation email for account verification.
A special passcode will be sent to the applicant via the system through email following successful verification. The OP Voter will use the passcode to cast their ballot on election day.
