Ignite, operating under the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication (MoITT), has signed a strategic agreement with a consortium led by Mobilink Bank, including CyberVision International, to establish and operate the National Incubation Center (NIC) Sialkot. The initiative is designed to strengthen Pakistan’s innovation ecosystem and support emerging entrepreneurs in industrial hubs.

The new incubation center aims to provide a dedicated platform for technology-driven startups and innovative ventures in Sialkot, a city widely recognized for its export-oriented industries, including sports goods, surgical instruments, leather products, and musical equipment.

Focus on Innovation and Entrepreneurship

The signing ceremony was held at the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication in Islamabad and was attended by senior government officials along with representatives from Ignite and Mobilink Bank.

Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, stated that NIC Sialkot aligns with the government’s vision of a Digital National Pakistan. She emphasized that the initiative reflects a commitment to empowering young entrepreneurs by providing access to resources, mentorship, and growth opportunities.

Strengthening Sialkot’s Industrial Base

Sialkot has increasingly evolved into a hub for e-commerce and digital exports, building on its strong industrial foundation. The establishment of NIC Sialkot is expected to further enhance this ecosystem by connecting local businesses with modern technology and innovation-driven solutions.

The center is designed to support up to 25 startups annually, offering mentorship, business development services, investor connections, market access, and networking opportunities. Officials say the initiative is part of a broader strategy to expand innovation infrastructure beyond major cities and promote regional economic development.

Government and Private Sector Collaboration

CEO Ignite, Muhammad Bilal Abbasi, highlighted that NIC Sialkot represents an important milestone in expanding Pakistan’s startup ecosystem. He noted that the center will help entrepreneurs transform ideas into scalable businesses while encouraging digital transformation across industries and improving export competitiveness.

Mobilink Bank President and CEO, Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary, emphasized the importance of inclusive economic growth. He said innovation should not remain limited to large urban centers but must extend to smaller industrial cities. He added that NIC Sialkot will provide entrepreneurs with financial solutions, mentorship, and digital tools to scale their businesses effectively.

Sectoral Focus and Growth Areas

While NIC Sialkot will welcome startups from multiple sectors, it will particularly focus on industries aligned with the region’s strengths, including:

  • Sports technology
  • Surgical and healthcare innovations
  • Manufacturing and industrial automation
  • E-commerce and export-driven solutions
  • Digital commerce and emerging tech industries

The center will also promote innovation in advanced fields such as Artificial Intelligence, Industry 4.0, smart supply chains, advanced manufacturing, and health technologies.

Expanding Pakistan’s Innovation Network

The National Incubation Center program, funded by the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication and Ignite National Technology Fund, is Pakistan’s flagship startup support initiative. With seven regional centers across the country, NICs aim to foster collaboration between startups, industry leaders, academia, and global accelerators.

With the addition of NIC Sialkot, the government continues its efforts to decentralize innovation and create new pathways for entrepreneurship, employment generation, and export-led growth across Pakistan.
