Islamabad Master Plan Revision Body Restarts Work in 18 Months
Islamabad: After almost 18 months, a group appointed by the federal cabinet to revise the master plan for Islamabad will meet to consider expedited completion of the project.

Another member stated that the reconstituted panel was authorized to contract the consultancy firm directly and that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) would supply the necessary funding.
The earlier-formed commission had prepared an initial report pertaining mostly to commercial structures and dwellings in select regions, including Banigala, in addition to identifying a number of other difficulties, including water deficit and transportation.
The 1960 master plan for Islamabad, drafted by a Greek firm, was supposed to be changed every 20 years. However, with the exception of 43 specified adjustments, no revisions were done, resulting in planning concerns that led to the uncontrolled construction of buildings in various districts of the capital.

In addition, unacquired and private land in Zone III experienced an explosion of unplanned construction because the CDA never attempted to acquire private land in this zone.
The official stated that housing societies were also a persistent problem in the city, as there were over 100 illegal housing plans.
