The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences, the city’s largest public sector hospital, will house the Islamabad Cancer Hospital, which will be built for a cost of Rs. 3.40 billion (PIMS). The sole government-owned cancer treatment centre at the moment is the oncology unit at PIMS. Under the Vision of 2025, the 200-bed cancer hospital project was approved during the previous PML-N administration. The previous administration, however, put this initiative on hold.

Another historic project, the National Police Hospital, was promised by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal in 2018 when he served as interior minister. It will cost Rs. 6.48 billion to build. The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) currently lacks a designated hospital for police officers, so they must receive their medical care at PIMS or the Polyclinic Hospital.

In order to serve 12,000 members of the Islamabad Police and the general population of ICT with tertiary healthcare services, the project calls for the construction of a 100-bed hospital. The project’s scope comprises external development work, the purchase of medical equipment, the creation of a project management unit, and civil work for the construction of an eight-story hospital structure (PMU).

At a cost of Rs. 1.37 billion, the Shaikh Zayed Postgraduate Medical Institute’s Radiology Department will be upgraded. New equipment will be purchased, and existing equipment will be replaced.
