NADRA Introduces Ijazat Aap Ki Service 2023
Citizens will be able to use the service to consent prior to CNIC verification.
NADRA introduces NADRA Ijazat Aap Ki service, a ground-breaking effort that places citizens in control of their personal data, to further preserve the privacy of citizen’s data. Via this service, residents will be able to provide their consent prior to the CNIC being verified, ensuring that their sensitive data is always safe and secure.

By adopting strong security precautions, NADRA ensures the privacy of citizens’ data. The authority has now taken a historic step by granting residents genuine and practical ownership and limiting unauthorized access. NADRA’s commitment to transitioning ID management from conventional security measures to a digital consent regime is demonstrated by the introduction of a multi-layered control mechanism.
While introducing the service, Tariq Malik, the chairman of NADRA, stated that consent management is a digital method in accordance with his aim to safeguard data security and defend citizen privacy. As with physical property, citizens are now empowered to manage access and guard against abuse or unauthorized use of their data because it is their own property.

“We are moving from a world where data is used against people to a digital realm where data is used to empower the citizens and give ownership rights of their own data. Citizen’s data is not for sale, it is a valuable asset, and NADRA protects it passionately. Informed consent will be required from citizens to use personal data by a product or service providers from now on,” said Malik.
All verification transactions starting on Thursday (yesterday) will call for a 6-digit passcode that will be issued to the citizen’s registered mobile number to get their approval to proceed with data sharing. The citizen’s willingness to have his or her ID number verified by NADRA will be assumed when the pin number is given for authentication.

When a citizen registers for an ID card, Nadra gathers their mobile numbers. Also, the authority has introduced an SMS service (8009) that allows residents to register their mobile number. To register their cellphone number with NADRA, citizens can text the short code 8009 with their 13-digit ID card number. In case the enrollment is successful, NADRA will reply with a confirmation message.
Malik emphasized the necessity for people to secure their personal information and asked them to take all reasonable efforts to avoid fraud and identity theft.
