IT & Telecom Ministry Launches ‘Smart Village Project’
Islamabad, Pakistan: Through the Universal Service Fund (USF), the Ministry of IT and Telecommunications started the “Smart Village” initiative in four provinces, Islamabad, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
International Telecommunication Union and Huawei Technologies Pakistan would provide funding and technical support for the project.

Under the project, a centre with modern amenities will be established in a backward community, from which not only will the locals be trained to use IT facilities, but they will also be urged to incorporate it into their everyday lives.
The Smart Village Project was inaugurated by the Chief Guest of the ceremony, Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunications Syed Amin Ul Haque.
The minister stated that the National Information Technology Board (NITB) had created over thirty mobile applications, government web portals, and websites pertaining to public services.
The general people can only reap the benefits of these applications if they access them. According to him, the Digital Pakistan Vision’s measures are now beginning to bear fruit.

Syed Amin Ul Haque added that the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication will continue to implement more difficult and fruitful projects to promote IT and Telecommunication-related services in the future.
