IT Ministry Demands Rs. 24.25 Billion Budget for FY24
The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) has asked for a budget of Rs. 24.25 billion to fund 47 projects in the next fiscal year, FY24. The MoITT has specified that Rs. 20.877 billion will be allocated for the continuation of 34 ongoing projects and Rs. 3.372 billion for 13 new projects.
Of the total amount requested, the Special Communications Organization (SCO) will receive Rs. 5.764 billion for 10 ongoing projects and 6 new projects, while the National Information Technology Board (NITB) will receive Rs. 1.891 billion for 5 ongoing projects, but no new project has been proposed for NITB in FY24.

The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) will receive Rs. 3.022 billion for 9 ongoing and 4 new projects, and the main ministry will receive Rs. 8.031 billion for 4 ongoing projects. The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) will receive an additional Rs. 440 million for 3 ongoing projects.
In addition, the Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology will receive Rs. 175.409 million, while Virtual University Lahore will receive Rs. 18.404 billion. The National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) will be granted Rs. 16.979 billion for 3 new projects, and the National Telecommunication and Information Technology Security Board (NTISB) will receive Rs. 1.422 billion for 1 ongoing project.
