Karachi’s K-IV Project to be Completed in 2023
Islamabad: According to news reports, Sindh Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Farrukh Habib stated that the Greater Karachi Water Supply plan (K-IV) will be finished by the end of 2023. He was speaking at the contract signing event for the K-IV project’s hire of consulting firms.

He noted that the project is essential for addressing the city’s water demands, which are currently 650 million gallons per day short. The project is part of the prime minister’s plan to modernise Karachi, and the Water and Power Development Authority will construct and administer it (WAPDA). Multiple finance institutions have showed interest in the project.

In addition, he added that new dams are being built to suit the country’s energy needs, adding that these dams will generate 10,000 Megawatts of electricity. Until now, 45% of the demand for power has been met with gasoline, which pollutes the atmosphere and the ecosystem, he continued.
