Khalid Mansour: Inexpensive Labour Attracts Chinese Investors
According to the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Mr. Khalid Mansour, Pakistan’s labor is more cost-effective than that of China, making it more appealing to Chinese capital.

In a Friday presentation at the Pakistan Stock Exchange, Mr. Mansour noted that China’s internal migration patterns pose a difficulty for the country’s ability to hire competent labor. The one-child policy has recently brought the issue of human resources to the forefront. The rapidly expanding population of Pakistan makes local labor more inexpensive for Chinese investors.

Mr. Mansour further added that the establishment of nine special economic zones (SEZs) and a free zone in Gwadar, in addition to the rapid growth of numerous CPEC-related projects, are now underway. The impression that SEZs favor Chinese investors was disclosed. In addition, he stated that German, Dutch, and a huge number of local enterprises are interested in investing in these zones.
