Government Approves Acquisition of 62,000 Kanals of Land for Islamabad Airport Expansion and National Defense Requirements

The Government of Pakistan has approved the acquisition of approximately 62,000 kanals of land located around Islamabad International Airport and has formally issued a notification in this regard.

According to official sources, the land will be utilized for the future expansion of Islamabad International Airport, to accommodate increasing air traffic demands, and to fulfill national defense requirements.

The notification includes 12 revenue villages (mouzas) as part of the acquisition plan, namely: Bajnial, Bango, Kanyal, Chak Fatoon, Kunjari, Daulatpur, Ganda, Kak Chaudhry, Jangal, Ladhial, Mehlo, and Mian Rasheeda.

Following the land acquisition, restrictions will be imposed on the sale, purchase, and new construction activities within the notified areas. Authorities have initiated proceedings under the Land Acquisition Act to ensure compensation is paid to affected landowners in accordance with the law.

Officials stated that the project will significantly enhance the operational capacity of Islamabad International Airport while also strengthening the country’s defense and strategic interests.
