Khayaban-E-iqbal to Be Linked with Margalla Road
According to public media sources, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) in Islamabad has planned to connect Margalla Road and Khayaban-e-Iqbal by building two interchanges that will improve traffic flow in the city.
According to the specifics, the CDA’s engineering division will construct the interchanges at Shaheen Chowk and E-11th Street. The CDA board will discuss finalizing the consultant firm in a scheduled meeting.
Khayaban-e-Iqbal is reportedly one of the busiest roads in Islamabad due to the proximity of government buildings and educational institutions to Shaheen Chowk. In contrast, after the erection of apartment buildings and wedding tents along the E-11, the route has become congested.
According to CDA representatives, with the completion of Margalla Route (from G.T. Road to Sangjani), the road will attract more traffic, making the development of these interchanges essential. Additionally, the officials stated that work on Margalla Road is now ongoing and may be completed during the current fiscal year.

In April of this year, Prime Minister Imran Khan performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Margalla Avenue project. The project was divided into three phases by the CDA.
From G.T. Road to Sangjani will be constructed a road in the first phase. In the second phase, the Bhara Kahu bypass will be completed, and a road will be built from Sangjani to Constitution Avenue in the third.
