KP Issues 22 Percent of PFC Award with Fiscal Year Ending
Peshawar: As of now, just 22% of the Provincial Finance Commission (PFC) Award for the fiscal year 2020–21 has been given by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government (FY21).

The government has allotted Rs 15.24 billion under the PFC for the current fiscal year, but has only issued Rs 3.277 billion so far, falling short of releasing 78% of the award, which comes to Rs 11.965 billion.
The commission has a very low disbursement rate of 22% despite having access to cash, when it should have issued more than 60% to the province’s Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs), according to sources in the finance department.

Earlier, the monies of the PFC Award were issued through the Local Government Department but are now released directly by the Finance Department which results in selective disbursement of funding, leaving many TMAs disadvantaged.
However, tribal districts haven’t gotten their fair share either because new TMAs don’t have a separate status.

The province now has 94 tehsil municipal governments.
