LDA Approves Two New Underpasses for Lahore
According to news reports, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has approved two new underpass projects to be constructed at Samanabad Chowk and Akbar Chowk in fiscal year 21-22 (FY21). The improvements are intended to address the growing traffic issues in the provincial capital.

In addition, the LDA engineering division has initiated a feasibility study for the project to restructure the traffic plan in the aforementioned regions. Both projects have a proposed budget of 2.4 billion Pakistani rupees.
According to the supplied information, the proposed design for the Akbar Chowk underpass includes dual underpasses on both sides, as well as the reconstruction of Maulana Shaukat Ali Road to improve traffic flow and access to the Kareem Block market.
The project will minimise traffic congestion, which will help over 240,000 commuters. However, due to the Orange Metro line, the initial plan to construct a flyover at Samanabad was denied, and an underpass project was allowed instead.
