On the instructions of Director General Tahir Farooq, the Lahore Development Authority’s (Lahore Development Authority) Town Planning Wing has stepped up enforcement actions against illegal commercial constructions across various parts of the city.
During a series of operations conducted in multiple localities, LDA teams sealed 203 properties for unauthorized commercial use and non-payment of commercialization fees.
The enforcement drives covered several areas of Lahore, including Gulberg, Faisal Town, Gulshan Ravi, Gujjarpura, Samanabad, Shadbagh, the UET vicinity, Punjab Government Employees Cooperative Housing Scheme, College Road, and Allama Iqbal Town.
According to a spokesperson, 19 properties were sealed in Gulberg and Faisal Town for illegal commercial activity. Another 84 properties were sealed in Gulshan Ravi, Gujjarpura, Samanabad, and Shadbagh for similar violations.
In separate actions, 60 properties were sealed in the UET area, the Punjab Government Employees Cooperative Housing Scheme, and College Road due to unauthorized commercial use and outstanding commercialization fee payments.
Meanwhile, a recovery-focused operation in Allama Iqbal Town resulted in the sealing of an additional 40 properties.
The sealed establishments included a wide range of businesses such as private schools and colleges, banks, event halls, marquees, academies, bakeries, pharmacies, beauty salons, clinics, grocery stores, auto workshops, electronics shops, restaurants, food outlets, offices, and other commercial units.
The operations were supervised by Chief Town Planner-I Asad uz Zaman and Chief Town Planner-II Azhar Ali, as part of the authority’s ongoing efforts to regulate land use and enforce urban planning rules.
