LDA to Amend Private Housing Schemes Regulations
According to news sources, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has drafted the Private Housing Schemes Regulations, 2021. The decision to change the LDA Private Housing Schemes Rules 2021 was made in order to clarify the law.
According to the new draught of the Private Housing Schemes Regulations 2021, three main characteristics of permitted private housing projects will be underlined.

Now, the cemetery can be located five kilometres distant, potentially in the green zone as opposed to the brown zone. Previously, societies were supposed to provide a cemetery within a five-kilometer radius, but there was confusion between the Brown and Green zones.
The public utility zones of a project can be managed by the developer for a term of 15 years.

After fifteen years, LDA will be entitled to assume ownership of public utility sites. Previously, these zones were off-limits to private schemes.
The proposed adjustments will be presented for approval at the upcoming meeting of LDA’s governing body. In addition, the authority has recommended amending the 2020 Building and Zoning Rules, which will also be revised at the upcoming meeting.
