LDA to Build Along Metro bus, Orange Line Tracks
According to news reports, the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has told the government that the vacant property between the Metro Bus route and Orange Train will be used to construct multistory structures. The proceeds from the project will be used to fund public transportation.

The authority has identified 1,400 kanals of vacant land along the Orange Train track and 800 kanals of government land along the Metro Bus route, according to a plan presented to the P&D Board.
The authority also alerted the Advisor to the Prime Minister, Dr. Salman Shah, about the project, and he asked LDA to conduct additional feasibility investigation.

According to reports, arrangements are in place to return a PKR 165 billion loan secured from China for the Orange Line train, but the initial installment has reportedly reached PKR 15 to 16 billion.
During the current fiscal year, the Orange line payment has increased due to the provincial government’s internal and external debt servicing. Contrarily, the Orange Train has devoured 97% of Punjab’s budget for transportation development.
