Mining Firm Offers to Revive All RO Plants in Thar
Mithi: The Thar Foundation has stated its preparedness to adopt all reverse osmosis facilities in Thar on a public-private partnership basis due to the crisis-like situation that has persisted in Tharparkar and some other districts since the closure of practically all RO plants months ago.

The Thar Foundation was created by the Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company (SECMC), which operates a mine and generates electricity in the district.
The SECMC and Thar Foundation promised to run the 635 RO plants to ensure that the inhabitants of Thar could resume receiving clean drinking water in response to media allegations that 95 percent of those plants were allegedly lying defunct in some regions.
According to Mr. Babar, the 17 plants, 10 of which are owned by the government of Sindh, were installed in 2012 but weren’t operational until 2014.

Additionally, they were made operational to offer 25,000–30,000 people with drinking water that met WHO standards, and this project was adopted as a template.
In response to a query, he stated that his business had presented the Sindh government with a proposal to acquire the failing RO plants in this district in order to have the Thar Foundation restore them.
