Minister Wants CDA to Complete Feasibility Study of 2 Dams
Asad Umar, Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives in Islamabad, has tasked the Capital Development Authority (CDA) with completing a feasibility assessment on two small dams.

The minister issued the order while presiding over a meeting regarding water issues in Islamabad. The CDA informed him that the two tiny dams, Chiniot and Shahdara, will be able to supply 26 million gallons per day (MGD) of water to the residents of Islamabad.
CDA authorities stated in a press statement that the restoration of Simly Dam’s key transmission pipelines conserved around 2MGD of water. Approximately 2 MGD was restored from Rawal Dam after 25 years, and 152 tubewells are currently functioning.
On the other side, the municipal authority has been contemplating the Ghazi Barotha project, which is intended to give Rawalpindi and Islamabad with 100MGD apiece. The project will be finished in five years, contingent upon the allocation of money projected to exceed 100 billion rupees, after it has been initiated.

However, the municipal government has lately begun debating the minor Chiniot and Shahdara dams, which, according to the authority, will offer 26MGD to Islamabad once constructed.
The projected Chiniot dam will be constructed in the upper region of Simly Dam, which is under the control of the Punjab government.
