MoPD Prioritize Development Projects in Balochistan
Islamabad: After analyzing the progress of Balochistan’s development projects, the Ministry of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives has decided to fast-track the most critical projects.

In accordance with the vision of the honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan for the development of underprivileged and underdeveloped areas in Pakistan, Phase-I of the South Balochistan Development Package (SBDP) has been successfully completed, culminating in the listing of approved projects in PSDP 2021-22 and the allocation of funds.
While reviewing the status of PC-I/IIs and their corresponding financials, the Planning Minister observed that Balochistan’s current portfolio in the federal PSDP has a thin distribution of funds and wished that a priority list of projects be compiled so that quick-moving and strategic projects could be adequately funded for timely completion.

In addition, the Minister assessed the development of projects to be sponsored via the Public-Private Partnership model. The Minister of Planning stated that the private sector is the actual driver of progress in countries around the world, and that the Sialkot-Kharian road was just launched using this paradigm.
The MOU with four banks (Punjab, NBP, Al Falah, and Habib) stipulates that the institutions will grant loans to qualified candidates.
