Rawalpindi Commissioner Salman Ghani on Saturday directed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to improve the condition of Murree Road and begin road marking and beautification work on a priority basis.
He issued the directives while chairing a meeting at the RDA to review a proposed improvement plan for Murree Road and its major intersections. During the meeting, RDA officials briefed the commissioner on the planned measures, including zebra crossings, lane markings, stone painting and other beautification initiatives.
Under the proposed plan, zebra crossings and lane markings will be introduced at major intersections on both sides of Murree Road, with special focus on locations experiencing heavy traffic and high pedestrian movement.
The new road markings are intended to clearly define traffic lanes, improve traffic flow and discipline, guide motorists and provide safer crossing points for pedestrians.
The RDA will also carry out stone painting and other beautification activities at selected locations along the road to enhance the appearance of one of Rawalpindi’s major thoroughfares.
Commissioner Ghani directed the relevant officials to begin the work immediately in accordance with the Punjab chief minister’s directions and complete it within the stipulated timeframe.
He further instructed concerned departments to maintain close coordination throughout the project and ensure that all work is completed according to approved quality standards.
