National Assembly Passes Budget for FY22
Islamabad: The proposed budget for the fiscal year 2021-2022 (FY22) was approved during a crucial session of the National Assembly in Islamabad to vote on it, according to relevant officials.
The government rejected amendments to the financial bill presented by opposition parties, with opposition members’ proposals being rejected by a majority vote of 172-138, whereas all amendments proposed by treasury MPs were adopted.

After clause-by-clause reading was concluded, the budget was approved by voice vote led by the NA speaker.
During the debate, opposition lawmakers who spoke on the document asked the administration to prioritise expanding education and limiting the exponential population rise.

In addition to seeking assistance for the public, the legislators advocated for the agriculture industry to get production-boosting incentives.
The leader of the PPP also stated that the health and education sectors were mostly disregarded in the budget this year.
