NHA Attracts Rs 144Bn Private Investment for Road Infrastructure
The ECNEC has approved the 165.679 billion rupee building of a 306 km long motorway.
The National Highway Authority (NHA) has successfully attracted private sector investment over the previous year, surpassing Pakistan’s average annual Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) with projects totaling more than Rs 144 billion.

Besides other advantages, an NHA official stated that over Rs 391 billion in revenue would be generated from these initiatives.
According to the official, a private party is in charge of the project’s design, building, operation, and maintenance. In exchange, the party is entitled to collect tolls and other fees for a set length of time.
One of the largest PPP projects was the Islamabad-Lahore Motorway, which included the overlay and renovation of 357 km of M-2. The project was handed over to a concessionaire for a 20-year period in 2014. The other project finished on a BOT basis was the Habibabad Bridge on the Grand Trunk Road (N-5) in Okara.

Another significant NHA project, the 136 km Super Highway, was transformed to the Karachi–Hyderabad Motorway on a BOT basis. The 91 Sialkot-Lahore Motorway was just opened for traffic and was likewise constructed using the BOT approach.
The Motorways project calls for the development of a 6-lane, access-controlled highway that will run from Hyderabad to Naro Canal Sukkur.
