Google Drive and Docs Are Getting a Fresh New Look
In order to make its Workspace apps, including as Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides, more consistent with its Material Design 3 framework, Google is updating their looks. At the time of writing, the company is implementing the new designs, and everyone should receive the update within the coming weeks.

The updated designs are believed to be inspired by Gmail’s updated appearance; toolbars and comments now have darker colours to help them stand out against the document’s white background.
The “Share” button will also get a more rounded appearance, changing from the existing rounded-rectangle form.
Google claims that the distribution will start for users of rapid-release domains in the next 15 days and be available to everyone by March 25. All users of workspace, personal, and legacy G Suite Basic and Business plans will be able to get the upgrade.

Google announced plans to support third-party smart chips in October, enabling users to seamlessly incorporate third-party apps into their documents, similar to Notion and Coda. The widespread rollout of this upgrade has just begun.
In the upcoming weeks, the software giant plans to integrate apps like Atlassian, Asana, Figma, Miro, Tableau, and ZenDesk.
Together with these new smart chips, Google has also unveiled chips for the stopwatch, emoji voting, and calendar invites in Docs. Moreover, Sheets now has a useful date shortcut chip.
