NHA to Get PKR 6.88 Billion for Road Infrastructure Projects
According to media sources, the Federal Government has agreed to fund PKR 6.88 billion for 10 new road and infrastructure projects in the next budget for Fiscal Year 2021-22. In addition, there would be an additional allocation of PKR 5 billion for three packages.

Regarding the new initiatives, they involve the restoration of infrastructure and the construction of new roadways, as described below.
A bridge over the Indus River near Ghazi Ghat on the N-70 Malakand Tunnel (Phase-I) Sui-Kashmore Dual Carriageway that would link the Sukkur-Multan Motorway.
Details of the improvement projects are as follows:
- Chitral-Booni-Mashtuj-Shandur corridor development and extension (CPEC)
- Dualization and improvement of the existing N-50 from Yarik to Sagu-Zhob, including the construction of a 210-kilometer Zhob Bypass.
- Enhancement and enlargement of N-45 (130.22 km)
- Upgrade and widening of the N-65 between Quetta and Dhadhar (118.322 km)
The expansion of the Swabi interchange Ring Road will comprise the construction of:
- Jhal Jhao-Awaran Road
- Gilgit-Shandur Road
- Hoshab-Awaran-Khuzdar segment of M-8, Awaran-Naal Road (168 km)
Regarding ongoing projects, the PKR 107.08 billion budgeted for the fiscal year 2021-22 would be allocated to 25 projects.

A top executive of the National Highway Authority (NHA) stated that the organisation has requested PKR 200 billion for ongoing and future projects. Despite this, the government has only given a budget of PKR 119 billion.
