The Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi has postponed the launch of e-passport services for Pakistani citizens living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), just a day before the service was scheduled to begin.
The e-passport facility was set to launch on July 20, 2026, but the embassy has delayed the rollout until further notice due to technical and administrative reasons.
In an official notice issued on July 19, the embassy said it will not accept or process e-passport applications until a new launch date is announced. No revised timeline has been provided.
The embassy clarified that the postponement does not affect Machine-Readable Passport (MRP) services. Pakistani nationals in the UAE can continue applying for new MRPs or renewing existing passports through the current process without any disruption.
The embassy thanked the Pakistani community for its patience and assured applicants that a new date for the launch of e-passport services will be announced in due course. It also advised citizens to follow its official website and social media channels for future updates.
