Pakistan Hopeful of Saudi Arabia Easing Travel Curbs AMID
Islamabad: The foreign ministers of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia met to explore easing Covid-19 travel restrictions, which have left almost 400,000 Pakistani workers stranded at home.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the Saudi foreign minister, is visiting Pakistan for one day. Islamabad brought up the matter with him.

Notwithstanding rifts in their formerly cordial relations early this year, FM Faisal is the first prominent Saudi official to visit Pakistan.
Almost 400,000 of the two million Pakistani labourers working in Saudi Arabia, according to Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, were left stuck at home because of travel restrictions.
Although the Saudi FM claimed his country had donated Covid-19 shots to 1.7 million Pakistani labourers, the majority of Pakistanis have received a Chinese vaccination.
One-fourth of Pakistan’s total yearly remittances, or $7 billion, come from the labour there.

Qureshi continued by saying that the CPEC project offered Saudi Arabia tremendous potential for SEZ investment. He claimed that our professional and trained workforce could significantly contribute to the Saudi Vision 2030.
