PESCO Successfully Test Pilot Project to Reduce Electricity
The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) and the United States Mission to Pakistan hailed the successful conclusion of a pilot project to reduce electricity theft and boost power sales in Peshawar.
U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) installed 157 kilometres of anti-theft cable and 5,000 smart metres as part of the project in various PESCO serviced areas, including Chamkani subdivision, which had been experiencing a 60 percent annual revenue loss due to theft, billing issues, and power supply problems.

A cutting-edge online transformer monitoring system was also unveiled by USAID, giving PESCO the ability to conduct real-time energy accounting and proactively take corrective action. For a power distribution firm owned by the Pakistani government, this is a first-of-its-kind system.
