PM Inaugurates Matiari-Lahore One-of-a-Kind Transmission Line
Premier Imran Khan inaugurated a 600 kilovolt (kV) transmission line between Matiari and Lahore, which he described as “state-of-the-art,” according to press reports.

The 886-kilometer transmission line is anticipated to meet the nation’s energy needs and reduce line losses.
According to the prime minister, the project was finished in three years as part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He also noted that the government’s top goal is completing CPEC projects.
The government has continued to work on the project despite the COVID-19 pandemic, and it will be expedited further.

Nong Rong, the Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, also spoke at the occasion, adding that the project is expected to increase grid system safety and reliability, optimize energy distribution across the country, and reduce electricity costs.
The Matiari-Lahore transmission line project was initiated in 2013, but official construction could not begin until 2018.
