Prices of NPHP Units in Lahore Increased
Lahore: According to a news source, the cost of a single low-cost housing unit has increased by PKR 330,000 and will now cost PKR 1,430,000 instead of the previous price of PKR 1,100,000. These apartments are being built under the government’s Naya Pakistan Housing Program (NPHP) programme.
The Punjab government plans to build 10,000 affordable homes in Lahore and other parts of the city during the project’s initial phase, according to the information that has been made public.
For the project, the administration has already designated 33 additional tehsils in addition to Raiwind neighborhood in Lahore. Additionally, the monthly installment amount has reportedly raised from PKR 7,000 to PKR 12,000.

Sources claim that the Housing, Urban Development and Public Health Engineering Department (HUD & PHED) of the province has given the provincial government a pass on the alleged price rise for NPHP units in Lahore.
The news report went on to say that the improvement in project design and construction quality is to blame for the price increase.
It is important to note that the Housing Task Force was given a deadline of one month in which to submit a layout design for the building of affordable homes and apartments in Lahore. Localities including Barki Road, Maraka (Multan Road), Ashiana Housing Scheme, and LDA City have been designated for the NPHP Lahore.
