PTA & CCP Sign MoU for Collaboration in Areas of Mutual Interest

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority and the Pakistan Competition Commission to establish cooperation and collaboration in areas of shared interest.

At a ceremony on Friday in Islamabad, the Agreement was signed.

The Agreement will enable the transformation of society towards digitalization, encourage the use of new ICT technologies in line with the government’s “Vision 2025,” and promote competitive commercial and economic activities in the market.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) to create cooperation and collaboration in areas of shared interest.

The CCP’s Islamabad headquarters hosted the signing event. Senior officers from both organisations, including CCP Chair Rahat Kaunain Hassan, PTA Member Finance Muhammad Naveed, and others, were present.

The partnership between PTA and CCP will have a substantial impact on the country, especially where there are shared objectives, including fostering competitive commercial and economic activities. The areas of collaboration include building a coordinating system to facilitate effective communication, easing society’s transition to digitalization, encouraging the use of new ICTs, and employing ICTs as a contributor and facilitator to meet the SDG targets. In the end, this will help bring about a digital society, which is consistent with the “Vision 2025” of the Pakistani government.

The Agreement calls for conducting sessions, holding forums, and providing training on pertinent issues and technical breakthroughs in addition to enhancing the capacity of both organisations’ expertise and knowledge.

In response to Pakistan’s economic crisis, the CCP Chairperson urged for cooperation among regulators, stressing the need for efficient rules and frameworks to draw in investment, foster competition, and safeguard consumers. In light of the current economic issues, she pushed for creative and unusual ideas to create an enabling climate.

Addressing at the event, Member (Finance) PTA noted that both organizations may take advantage of their combined strengths to improve Pakistan’s digital environment and spur economic expansion.
