PTA Gets Rs 15.82 Billion from Telecom Companies
Karachi: The second instalment of the telecom firms’ license renewal fees has been paid in the amount of Rs. 15.82 billion to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).

According to a press release from PTA, two cellular mobile operators (CMOs), Telenor Pakistan and Pakistan Mobile Communication Limited, also known as Jazz, contributed Rs 15.82 billion ($103.17 million) toward the second installment of license renewal fees.
According to the PTA annual report 2019-2020, Pakistan’s telecom industry has been one of those getting the greatest foreign direct investment (FDI). The fiscal year 2020, it was said, ended up being the best in terms of FDI since the telecom industry received net FDI worth more than $622 million.
Some in the telecom industry disagree, arguing that because mobile services are becoming indispensable in practically every industry, the government should lower licencing and tax charges to allow for the growth of additional digital services like e-education, e-commerce, and e-health.
PTA has already paid the government Rs 135.81 billion (or $862.22 million), received from three CMOs against 50% of the total licence renewal cost, and paid the first instalment of the same.

The overall earnings on this count have increased to Rs 151.63 billion ($965.39 million) with the amount of the second payment received from two CMOs.
