The Punjab government has allocated Rs. 49 million for the proposed Rawalpindi-Murree Glass Train Project under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2026-27, marking the initial step toward developing a modern tourist rail service.
The project, with an estimated cost of Rs. 117 billion, aims to boost tourism by offering a scenic rail journey between Rawalpindi and Murree, one of Punjab’s most popular tourist destinations.
According to official documents, the land acquisition process for the railway track and proposed stations has already begun in Murree, paving the way for the project’s future development.
The glass train project is part of the Punjab government’s broader plan to strengthen tourism infrastructure, improve connectivity, and provide visitors with a unique travel experience while supporting the province’s growing tourism sector.
