The Higher Education Department announces the new college timings due to the intense heatwave in Punjab.

Lahore: The temperature is increasing throughout the province. Hence, the Punjab government announces new college timings for both public and private institutions. The authorities will implement the new college timings on Tuesday, May 21. It will end on May 31.

A notification was released by the province’s Higher Education Department (HED) on Monday. It states that the decision was made due to the extreme”heatwave in Punjab.”

According to the announcement, the authorities will implement the changes to the new educational schedule.

The new college timings under HED are as follows:

  • Monday to Thursday and Saturday: 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM
  • Friday: 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM
  • Monday to Saturday (Evening Shift): 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM

Due to the intense heat, the Punjab government also said earlier today that schools will have an extra seven days off.

The news was revealed on X by Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar. He stated that from May 25 to May 31, all public and private schools will be closed. 

Considering parent’s concerns and the extreme heatwave in Punjab, we have decided to extend the holidays,” he explained.

Protecting students from the Punjab heatwave is of the utmost importance. Also, private schools holding exams will be permitted to remain open. 

Announcement of Summer Break in Punjab

The Punjab government declared on May 17 that the yearly summer break for schools will start. The period of summer break will be from June 1 to August 14.

In addition, the educational schedule changes for school because of the intense Punjab heatwave. Now, Monday through Thursday, schools will be open from 7:00 AM to 11:30 AM, and on Fridays, from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM.
