Punjab Governor Issued Succession Ordinance to Enable Masses
Lahore: According to news reports, Punjab Governor Ghulam Sarwar Khan has enacted the Punjab Succession Certificates Ordinance, 2021, to assist heirs in cases relating to transfers on both movable and immovable property.

The National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA) is required under the succession legislation to set up separate counters for the dependents of the decedent to submit their applications and begin the land transfer procedure. In line with the succession certificate of people’s personal property, the authorities shall issue Family Success Certificates (FRC).
The heirs can now submit their transfer applications to NADRA rather than a court, according to the information provided. Two prestigious national English and Urdu dailies will then run an advertisement.

The Biometric Verification Authority will provide land succession certificates to the heirs if there are no objections within 14 days after the announcement. The court order will be sufficient with the authorization certificate.
