The Punjab government has launched a large-scale road infrastructure restoration programme across the province on the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The initiative, described as a major step toward improving connectivity and public infrastructure, focuses on the construction, repair, and rehabilitation of roads in districts throughout Punjab.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has instructed relevant authorities to ensure strict compliance with project timelines, maintain high construction standards, and uphold transparency throughout the implementation process.
According to officials, work under the “CM Local Roads Programme” is progressing rapidly in multiple districts, with several road rehabilitation and development projects already nearing completion.
The chief minister emphasized that improved road networks are essential for economic growth, public convenience, and regional development. She also directed departments to closely monitor project execution to ensure quality and timely delivery.
In addition to road infrastructure improvements, Maryam Nawaz has made lane and line discipline mandatory in Lahore and other major cities across Punjab as part of broader efforts to enhance traffic management and road safety.
The Punjab government has also approved multi-billion-rupee transport infrastructure projects, including the development of modern bus stops and related facilities in Faisalabad, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, and Multan.
The programme is expected to improve transportation networks, facilitate smoother traffic flow, and support economic activity by enhancing connectivity across the province.
