Punjab to Launch ‘Chip Designing Tools’ Project in Varsities
Lahore: The Punjab government, as part of a public-private partnership, is launching a “Chip Designing Tools” project in the province’s universities; work has already begun in this regard following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the higher education department and its partners.

Mr. Humayun stated that the project would not only revolutionize the local IT industry but also offer job possibilities.
The chief minister stated that every child has the right to a modern higher education and that establishing a university in each district of the province would give students the opportunity to pursue higher education near their homes.
The minister informed Mr. Buzdar that 75 new colleges had been established in Punjab, in addition to upgrading 590 colleges to associate degree institutions and 201 others to the four-year level of Bachelor of Science. He stated that 86 further colleges would be established in the province.

The chief minister stated that including 21 Punjab universities in international and Asian rankings was evidence of his government’s education-friendly policies and a source of pride.
Under the Rahmatul-lil-Alameen Scholarship program, 834 million rupees worth of scholarships are offered to bright students. He stated that the government has allocated 285 percent more cash to the department of higher education than the previous year.
