Punjab to Provide Houses for Laborers on Ownership Basis
According to news sources, Punjab Minister of Labour and Human Resources Ansar Majeed Khan Niazi revealed that the government plans to give workers with their own homes this year, as part of a new labour housing program.

Minister Niazi remarked that the traditional policy of rental housing would be revised to accommodate laborers in their own homes on a foundation of ownership. He made these statements at the Punjab Social Security Institution Head Office during a meeting with a delegation led by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister’s Special Assistant on Industries and Commerce Abdul Karim Khan.
In addition, he asserted that the government will soon provide registration cards to laborers, making them eligible for government benefits. In this regard, as many as one million bank accounts will be created for workers across the province. Minister Ansar stated that this initiative would provide a monthly shopping subsidy of PKR 15,000 to laborers.
He also mentioned the province government’s digitization effort, which involves the digitization of social security hospitals in order to better serve the public. In addition, he added that the government has developed an online mechanism for businesses to contribute to social security benefits, with 98.7 percent of contributions coming from businesses in the preceding month.
