Rawalpindi Ring Road to Be Developed Under PSDP
Rawalpindi: The Punjab Government has opted to develop the Rawalpindi Ring Road (RRR) project under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) after failing to find private-public partnership (PPP) financiers for the project, according to a news source.
The project worth PKR 23 billion is anticipated to be inaugurated by the prime minister next month.
According to earlier Central Development Working Group (CDWP) meeting information, the project’s final permission was likely granted. In addition, the government has initiated the land acquisition process for the project, for which 6 billion PKR has been allotted.
The approvals for the Leh Expressway, for which the land purchase process has already begun, will be granted at the same meeting. The Rawalpindi Development Authority has reportedly begun designating the area on IJP Road for the 16.5-kilometer highway construction project.

The new project design calls for the excavation and deepening of the Leh storm drain, which will reduce the total cost of land acquisition. In accordance with the Project Concept-1 (PC-1) plan, 720 residences will be demolished, and trenches will be dug for the installation of a sewage water treatment facility.
On Quaid-e-Azam Day next month, Prime Minister Khan will inaugurate the two megaprojects from Rawalpindi, as planned.
