A meeting focused on land use planning and zoning along the Rawalpindi Ring Road was held at the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Wednesday, bringing together key stakeholders to review coordinated development, land acquisition priorities, and sector-wise planning along the corridor.

The session was convened on the directives of Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer Amir Khattak and the Director General RDA, and chaired by Additional DG RDA Masood Ahmad Bukhari.

It was attended by the Chief Planner of RDA, representatives of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI), the Deputy Director of Local Government, and the Chief Executive Officer of Health Rawalpindi.

According to an RDA press release, participants were briefed through a detailed presentation on decisions taken in the previous meeting held on May 15, 2026. The briefing included a review of priority land acquisition areas across different blocks along the Rawalpindi Ring Road corridor, along with discussions on departmental responsibilities for the effective implementation of the proposed land use framework.

Stakeholders examined zoning proposals in detail, with RCCI representatives emphasizing the importance of allocating properly planned commercial and industrial zones along the route to support business activity, investment, and long-term economic development.

Officials informed the meeting that adequate commercial and industrial areas have already been incorporated into the proposed plan, aimed at supporting sustainable growth, improving regional connectivity, and facilitating future urban expansion.

Representatives from the health and local government departments appreciated the planning process and the efforts of the RDA in developing the framework, reaffirming their support for its implementation.

It was further shared that the proposed plan will be presented to relevant tehsil councils for feedback and recommendations, ensuring a consultative and inclusive approach to urban planning.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks, with participants reiterating their commitment to inter-departmental coordination and sustainable development along the Rawalpindi Ring Road corridor.
