Refurbishment of GT Road Demanded
Gujrat: The city’s residents, especially businessmen, have been concerned about the 14-kilometer old GT road’s dilapidated state for more than ten years.
Over 2,000 manufacturing facilities line both sides of the road, and hundreds of heavy vehicles travel through it every day. Along the route is also where you’ll find the only industrial complex in the city.

The Kathala railway crossing from Lahore and the Rehmania bridge from Islamabad are the city’s two primary access points, and both sections of the road are in the worst condition.
With the money saved from other uplift schemes, the roads department carpeted a one-kilometer patch on both sides of the dual carriageway from Ramtalai Chowk to the industrial area gate over the course of the previous two fiscal years.
The 8 km stretch from the gate to the Chenab bridge, however, is still in disrepair and has significant potholes close to the Kathala railway crossing.
The residents of Gujrat have requested that the Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Parvez Elahi, MNA Moonis Elahi, and Chief Minister Usman Buzdar pay attention to the road’s terrible condition and order its reconstruction as soon as feasible.
